Report

Despite calming down since yesterday our performance was still appalling. Apart from a ten minute spell after half-time rollocking where we did take the lead we were shocking. Firstly credit must be given to a St Nick's side who worked tirelessly, flew in with challenges, last minute blocks and also caused us problems going forward. I should point out this team, was not too dissimilar to the side we beat 8-1 a month ago but one of their lads said they are pretty much a new team but some faces were recognisable.
I don't think we created a single effort in the first half, where as St Nicks should have scored twice. We had no battle in us at all, people were not interested in receiving the ball or playing football, just hoofing the ball out for throw-ins constantly. They were told at half-time it no uncertain terms it wasn't good enough and we reacted well with a good ten minute spell in which Hurrell was brought down in the box and Seedy despatched. Minutes after Rossi hit the post when he should have scored and Seedy created himself a great chance but a superb last ditch tackle denied him. Within 30 seconds of that they equalised, their striker outmuscling Rene to the floor leaving him a 20 yard one on one which he finished well. Fully deserved equaliser. Seedy missed a sitter in the last ten seconds, a long throw went all the way to the back post and he headed straight at the keeper from a yard. Had that gone in it would have been very harsh on St Nicks. The full-time whistle went and they celebrated like they had won the league. Fair play to them, had it not been for Ste who made atleast four very good saves they'd have won it.
Once again we had 11 men, influential players have gone travelling to South America for three weeks, some preferred to watch Leeds, some made plans on Saturdays and some didn't risk aggrievating injuries. All not good enough. We are a Saturday team, I don't go away, go watch Wednesday, plan weekends away during the season as I run a Saturday side! It must be the tenth time this season we've played with 11 and with so many under performing we needed subs to come on and change things. Fortunately we've got away with it, til yesterday. Yesterday was the worst performance I've seen since the dark Red Triangle days. Really poor and disappointing. Delighted we have such a big game v Beeston next week to move on from this game.
